Tara Whitsitt is a nomadic travel writer, illustrator, and fermentation educator who has been teaching workshops, collaborating with creatives and writing about holistic food traditions around the world since 2013.
She is the author of Fermentation on Wheels (Bloomsbury 2017) and founder of the traveling educational food hub by the same name, for which she has received critical acclaim from Publisher’s Weekly, The New York Times, Civil Eats, NPR’s The Splendid Table and others.
Tara describes herself as a life-long student. She is especially inspired by the fearlessness of food-centric nomads such as MFK Fisher, Anthony Bourdain and Juliette De Barclay Levy. She is also driven by exploring new worlds near and far–(whether it be the secretly complex ecosystem of a creek in springtime or the expansiveness of a far-away land’s local cuisine and native flora.)
